AETA President's Message

March 17, 2020

Dear Equestrian Colleagues,

Today I am writing with a message of support and solidarity to all of you who are facing the challenges of COVID-19. As business owners we must constantly keep safety the highest priority as it relates to our staff and our clients.

Many of you have wondered if AETA will still plan to hold its Trade Show in August. The answer is YES, we continue planning for the Trade Show. Our Board of Directors is currently monitoring the situation and should there be any changes, we will let the membership know immediately.  We remain hopeful that the virus will subside and we can gather in five months’ time.

We know how important the coming Trade Show is to our members as well as the industry. I can promise you the volunteer leaders will be thoughtful and transparent.

In the meantime, registration is open for the Trade Show and we encourage you to sign up if you haven’t already. I would also encourage you to seek support from your colleagues via our Facebook pages and by calling each other. In a time of social distancing we must commit to staying connected to each other.

Thinking of you and offering my support,

Anthony Gatto, President

My name is Anthony Gatto, owner of Kensington Protective Products, Inc. I am the newly appointed President of the American Equestrian Trade Association (AETA).

As you are all aware, there have been a significant number of changes with AETA in the last few years. In the past, AETA put on two trade shows a year: one in January, one in August and both shows ran for two and a half days. AETA is a members’ show and the board is here to service the members. With that in mind and in order to provide the most successful trade show for all participants: retailers, sales representatives, wholesalers, and manufacturers, we have made the following changes:

  • In 2020, AETA will only be holding one show during August for two full days: August 5th - 6th. The entire board is very excited for the year ahead, and we are doing everything in our power to make 2020 the best AETA show to date.
  • The board will be taking a more hands on approach by personally calling to check in with all recent and past exhibitors and retail store attendants. We will be sending information out on multiple media platforms: phone, e-mail, and social media. This is so we can reach everyone in their preferred form of communication with news and updates.
What makes this show a success? YOU! Participation and attendance at the show from both retailers and manufacturers is key to the continued success of this show.

In an effort to increase attendance, the board members are collectively gathering a list of national and international retail stores so we can be certain every store is aware of AETA.
How can you help?
  • If you are a manufacturer, you can help by sharing your list of stores, and letting your accounts know that you will be attending AETA 2020. You can share your by sending this in an excel format with names and emails to [email protected]. These lists will be kept completely confidential. Only our management company will have access to these lists.
  • If you are a retailer, you can help by calling the brands you have supported for all these years and tell them you are attending AETA and you hope to see them there.
The world is changing, and the industry is changing. Over the last ten years our industry has become fragmented, and the only way our industry survives is by us sticking together.  AETA provides a neutral meeting ground for like-minded people with a passion for horses that seek to make a living in the equestrian industry to meet and grow their businesses together.

Below is my personal e-mail and cell phone. I would love to know your thoughts, concerns, or suggestions. I can’t promise I can make your request or idea a reality, but I do promise to listen and figure out how I can accommodate if it is possible.

Thank you and I look forward to seeing you at the 2020 Trade Show!
